I would think so but I am inclined to consider their effect as the quincunx and semi-sextile. So, in the case of Mars and Venus, I think you need activating aspects to push the semi-square or perhaps if Mars/Venus are important planets in the chart (ruler, big weight), it can be felt by the person. The definition speaks about it being half the force of the square but it pushes one for ambition and success. Now that is very inarticulate but i so hope you get what i'm trying to say.ĭarkdreamer, according to the definition of the semi-square (i would assume it has to be activated to be felt. do you know what i mean? because the closer the orb the more significance it will have. that's what the terms suggest to me - but you've really cut them - 1 deg - wow!īut by diminishing the orb you're giving the aspects themselves more power too. so as in half as effective as a square for instance, so if 6 degrees is normal orb then 3 for the weaker aspect - so effectively cutting everything in half. because they're still planetary aspects - whereas with asteroids we use the 3 which makes sense because they are a weaker influence.
I guess I am just wondering, how MUCH weaker they are than major aspects, or if they can be felt. OF course, I think the orb would have to be 1° to 1,5° MAX. Wouldn't they have a weaker effect? therefore, should they operate at a closer orb? they could be really silly questions - but if you don't ask - you never learn. I know that these aspects are used in midpoint-astrology, but how valid are they in usual synastry? How do you feel about these aspects in synastry?ĭo they have an effect?
